A recognition app your team still uses in month three.

Reading reviews across HeyTaco, Bonusly, Matter and the rest, the same complaints keep appearing: notification overload, recognition turning into a points economy, a public leaderboard that becomes a popularity contest, and reminders that manufacture "inauthentic usage" at month end (Bonusly reviews on Capterra).

None of those are about missing features. They are about the app getting in the way.

• Giving has to be effortless. Mentioning someone with an emoji, or reacting to their message, is as low as the bar gets. Anything that needs a form or a slash command gets skipped.
• The app should be quiet. Private confirmations to the two people involved, one weekly summary, nothing else in the channel.
• A cap that stops hoarding. A small daily allowance keeps recognition scarce enough to mean something.
• A way to switch off the popularity contest. Either a giver-first leaderboard or no leaderboard at all.
• Narrow Slack permissions. Your engineers will read the scope list. It should be short and each item explainable.
• A price that does not punish hiring. Per-seat pricing means every new starter is a small tax on saying thanks.

Nod is built around that list and not much else. You give by mention or reaction. The giver and the receiver each get one DM. There is a daily allowance, a leaderboard that defaults to givers and turns off with one toggle, a single Friday digest, and a flat £19 a month for up to 50 people.

It reads messages only in channels you invite it to, never stores ordinary messages, and lists every permission with a reason on the privacy page.
