Like HeyTaco, without the per-seat bill or the rewards shop.

Give it credit. HeyTaco built the mechanic everyone else copies: post @sarah 🌮 great work in a channel and Sarah gets a taco. It resets five a day per person, works by reaction as well as by message, has a leaderboard with a giver-first mode, and has been around long enough to have real multi-year customers (HeyTaco: how it works).

On top of that it has a rewards catalogue, Microsoft Teams support, analytics, and a Marketplace listing with years of reviews. If you want any of those, HeyTaco is the safer choice and you should probably stop reading.

HeyTaco charges per active user: about $3 a month each on the Classic plan and $5 on Deluxe (HeyTaco pricing). For a 40-person team that is roughly $120 to $200 a month, and the bill grows with every hire. Reviewers describe it as fair for the feature set but a stretch for a small team that only uses the basics.

Nod is £19 a month for the whole workspace, up to 50 people. Above roughly eight people it is cheaper than HeyTaco Classic, and the price does not move when you hire.

Kept, because it is the part people actually use:

• Give by mentioning someone with your emoji, or by reacting to their message.
• A daily allowance per person that resets at midnight in your timezone.
• Private DMs to the giver and the receiver. Nothing extra posted in the channel.
• Your own emoji and name: tacos, flames, goats, a custom workspace emoji.
• A leaderboard you can set to givers, receivers, or off entirely.
• One weekly digest, in a channel you choose.

Left out on purpose: a rewards shop, gift cards, Microsoft Teams, HRIS integrations, surveys, and detailed analytics. If those are on your list, Nod is not the tool.

HeyTaco suits teams that want recognition plus rewards, need Teams as well as Slack, or want a mature product with a long review history.

Nod suits Slack-first teams of 15 to 50 people who want the ritual without the platform, a predictable bill, and permissions they can explain to their own engineers in one sentence.
